OMG AUTOMATING PICKING UP COINS = LAZY!!!
Well, um, it's a video game. I don't think there should be something as stupid as picking up gold.

Is this doable? What do you all think?

Was just thinking of enabling the Heroes and Henchies to autopick-up gold, because they get their share as well without EVER needing to pick up the gold. This would force the H/H to physically move to the gold however, possibly aggroing other mobs, so methinks your suggestion is better. As long as a text keeps popping up in the chat about how much gold is shared between your party members.
Although this thread is altready pretty old, it doesn't hurt to put this suggestion into the spotlight again

I probably posted in here already, otherwise I dont know why im subsribed to it. Why dont we just do the Mario (and now hellgate: london) system and have the gold be picked up automatically when you walk over it or get within proximity to it.
But only with gold, because otherwise you might get a constant message saying "inventory is full" when ever you walked within proximity to a drop.

I agree that gold should just be automatically distributed. I don't think it's lazy, just something that isn't really necessary to begin with. So, like many others, I'm signed for gold and unsigned for items.

Lol, you did say that before, on page one. At least we know you're consistent.

I like this idea for several reasons. One reason is that sometimes after the whole party wipes you get rezzed in an area far from where your gold was dropped and backtracking to pick up 56g is a pain. Also, in some cases cutscenes trigger and you're prevented from picking up your gold drops.

I see here a lot of intellectual lazyness, who use the shortcut "you have to click or you don't get the loot". We should apply "click semantics" and try to make them understand that not all click is the same!
I think, on the other hand, that this idea could have consequences on the economy of the game. I've been trying to get Master's on a few Factions missions and had to leave several k (possibly tens) because time is important. May be farmers could exploit that feature to get even richer and umbalance the virtual economy?

/Signed. I like the idea of our minipets picking up drops for us if possible, but I doubt anet will ever implement that and I don't blame them.
Reading this thread, it appears that the community is split about 50/50 on whether auto-pick up would be good or bad, so I don't expect the devs to waste time on an update that half of us would hate.
I find it tedious to mouse click on anything, but I pick up gold and loot instantly using my keyboard so it isn't much bother. I have the controls configured so that the number keys 1-8 on my side keypad are used to activate the skills 1-8 and the 0 is pick up nearest item.
So a typical fight is C space 1 2 3 0 space 1 0 space 4 2 0 space.
I pick up loot while fighting without ever breaking stride. The only time I have an issue is if there is no loot on the ground and my 0 space targets a signpost in the distance.

My priorities are in order, and sometimes I have to leave gold behind, but it makes me sad because I am cheap.

Every single 'monster' having gold on them, even giant worms is too imaginative. it should just shop up like the exp numbers after a kill.

/signed to this and make it toggleable. That way, all the "/notsigned" here are happy, too (since they have their reasons for liking the way it is). I'm all for GUI and gameplay improvements, especially if they're optional and don't negatively affect anyone.
For a team, I guess it would have to be the leader to toggle this.

Oh, didn't even notice the items were included with the suggestion! I agree with the quoted, then. Gold is already shared when picked up, so it should be made automatic per toggle. Items should remain as they are, and picked up individually. Otherwise, it would be annoying to have every single crap non-max white item and low-end collectible get sucked up when you don't want it to begin with. Plus, I like seeing that assigned green or gold item hit the ground.

well, i think it would be cool if heroes and henchmen could pick up gold, but the AI wouldnt be good enough for their timing, so they could pick it up then die, and if they're the last one standing, they might not get it. unless the AI is better than that, then
